Skill-safe is a powerful but easy to use online database, which offers clients the opportunity to include the use of Smartcards (including CSCS Smartcards) as part of their solution.

The Skill-safe system has been designed to work “out of the box” with CSCS Smartcards so clients can be confident of running a powerful and seamless solution incorporating CSCS Smartcards from day one.

The first time an individual presents his CSCS Smartcard on a Skill-safe site, a simple one-off matching process takes place, pairing a unique Skill-safe record with the person’s unique CSCS number. At the same time, key information is copied from the CSCS Smartcard into the Skill-safe record, such as qualifications and the individual’s photo.

The system automatically synchronises with CSCS’s own Go Smart database to ensure that all CSCS qualifications are up–to-date. Furthermore Skill-safe accommodates any other information about the individual and their work on projects/ sites that are required.

Another benefit is that clients do not need to worry about the costs or inconveniences surrounding the generation and production of their own Smartcards – any site requiring CSCS Cards already has the opportunity to implement a comprehensive Skill-safe solution with CSCS Smartcards!

The Skill-safe approach allows construction companies to harmonise their records further – enabling custom-built applications to be added to CSCS Smartcards for corporate benefit.

Example applications include:

• Skills Spot Checks: The client’s own safety critical qualifications added to all CSCS Smartcards for their staff and their supply chain so that cards can be spot-checked on site before a specific activity is started to ensure that all operatives are fully qualified;
• Logging of site-based training (including inductions) on the application, facilitating a simple method of recording and storing this information, which eliminates wasteful duplication and repetition of site-based training, especially when the workforce moves from site to site;
• Time and Attendance: Whether using the CSCS Smartcard or another Smartcard we have supplied, you can keep track of everyone’s movement in and out of site at all times.
